HOSPITAL PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP LEGISLATION PASSES
HHSC Maui Region Grateful for Legislation for Private Partnerships.
HONOLULU, Hawai‘i – Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Maui Region’s board and administration commended the Hawai‘i State Legislature today for the passage of House Bill 1075 Conference Draft 1. The Maui Region, consisting of Lāna‘i Community Hospital, Kula Hospital and the region’s flagship campus, Maui Memorial Medical Center, sought legislative approval to move forward with a potential private partner after being faced with consistent budget shortfalls and increasing deficits.
“We are so very grateful for the hard work of our legislators, our community and all the hands that have crafted this legislation, sought to lessen future impacts and stood with us over the last several years,” said Wesley Lo, the region’s Chief Executive Officer.
“While we still have a long road in moving forward and working with all parties involved as outlined in the legislation at the end of the day our hospitals and our county will be better because of this work,” he ended.
