Launch of ʻAina Pono: Hawaiʻi State Farm to School Initiative

We have been fortunate to work with an array of clients from Hawaiʻi to New York City to Belgium to Japan. Utilizing our knowhow to approach to think local in global situations - rooted and connected. Every once in awhile we are able to formulate concepts and ideas for the places where our roots are deep.

The Island Agency was tapped to help add some soul to a new brand for a project that has generational implications.

We named a farm to school initiative of then-Lieutenant Governor Shan Tsutsui, ʻAina Pono: Hawaiʻi State Farm to School Initiative. The initiative is an opportunity to utilize the Stateʻs agricultural resources to feed the minds of tomorrow.

In order for us to come up with a name we had to first set a vision:

Isolated in a continent of ocean, Hawai‘i exists as a perpetual reminder of finite resources, fertile lands and communities who are committed to the wellbeing of their keiki. ‘Aina Pono: Hawai‘i’s Farm to Cafeteria Initiative is an expression of the pride we have in food grown in these islands, the ingenuity of the people we trust to feed our keiki and the collective strength to return our communities to a legacy of cultivating fresh, locally grown sustenance to build the minds of tomorrow.

With this concept in mind we named the program ʻAina Pono, meaning good (for you) meal.

Todayʻs brand and logo launch is the beginning of feeding our children fresh and local food.

Our many thanks to former Lt. Governor Shan Tsutsui, current Lt. Governor Doug Chin for continue to carry the torch, Senior Advisor to the Lt. Governor Jayson Watts for trusting us with this process and to every hand that is working on the soil of this budding project.
