MAUI HOSPITALS’ REGIONAL CEO ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE

Wes Lo, Hawai‘i Health Systems - Maui Region’s Chief Executive Announces Departure from Hospital

WAILUKU, MAUI, Hawai‘i – After steering the hospital through numerous challenges, Hawai‘i Health Systems - Maui Region’s Chief Executive Officer, Wes Lo, will be leaving the hospitals on October 31, 2016.

Lo started with the Maui Region 13 years ago as its Chief Financial Officer and in May of 2004 became the Hospitals’ Chief Operating Officer. By September of 2004, Lo was named Regional Chief Executive Officer.

Through Lo’s leadership, Maui Region expanded and improved its physical facility campus with the construction of the Kahului tower and Maui Outpatient Clinic; opened a 24/7 emergent cardiovascular services program; led the HHSC regionalization effort allowing Maui Region more control over its resources to grow services for its community. Lo is credited for supporting the growth and development of staff and services that allowed the region to explore various opportunities.

Hawai‘i Health Systems – Maui Region’s Chair of the Board of Directors, Avery Chumbley, said, “Wes has been an excellent resource to this region, his commitment to patient safety and his commitment to and relationship with all staff has allowed us all to steer through difficult times. Wes' leadership will provide long term benefits to Maui County.”

The Maui Region will begin a search to fill the position. “In light of some difficult challenges facing the Maui Region, Wes’ temperament and leadership allowed us to focus on the larger issues. His shoes will be difficult to fill,” said Chumbley.
